Once-off ‘can drive’ takes place today.
Recently the Green School’s Committee organized a presentation regarding recycling and the positive benefits it can have for the environment. Karen from ‘Every Can Counts’, Dina from ‘Naas Tidy Towns’ and Barry from ‘Goodfellas Pizza’ explained the importance of recycling drinks cans.
The children found this presentation very informative and were very enthusiastic about recycling. In conjunction with Naas Tidy Towns, the school has agreed to hold a ‘once-off’ can drive on Thursday, 16th April.
Families are encouraged to collect aluminum drinks cans (please wash them out) and drop them to the school on 16th April.
Naas Tidy Towns will pick them up and transport them to Green Isle Foods for recycling. In exchange for these cans Naas Tidy Towns will receive a proportionate weight of compost which will be used for its various planting projects around Naas.
The Scoil Bhríde Green School’s Committee would greatly appreciate you collecting the cans and returning them to the school on 16th April and reminding your children of the importance of recycling. As well as helping Naas Tidy Towns keep our town looking beautiful, participation in the project will mean the cans we collect will be recycled and not end up wasted in landfill sites or incinerated.
