Scoil Bhrίde Parent Teacher Association

Who we are
The Scoil Bhríde Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a group of volunteer parents and guardians, working in partnership with the Scoil Bhrίde Team. Our aim is to help create and build a positive and engaging learning environment for our children. As a group we make suggestions for events, activities and initiatives that we feel would enrich the students’ experience of school life throughout the year. We then provide practical and financial support to enable the school to host such events. The PTA provides funding for added-value school projects/items that would not otherwise be funded from the school’s annual budget. The Annual General Meeting is held at the start of each new academic year, where accounts and reports are presented and parents are voted in as Committee Members. Two nominated teachers join with elected parents to form the PTA Committee. The PTA Committee meets one Thursday every month in the school.

What we do
Provide students with extra opportunities – the main duty of the PTA is to organise fundraising events to help raise money for the school to facilitate experiences the school budget can’t cover. Money raised from these events can be used in a variety of ways in order to optimise our children’s learning. The PTA allocate where the funds are spent with guidance from the school.

Organise events and activities – the PTA enhances the school community by organising fun days and social events for the school. Our aim is to promote an inclusive setting where children, parents and teachers can work together and achieve a sense of community and school spirit.

Communication and feedback – part of the role of the PTA is to provide a space where parents can interact with and help influence their children’s education. Parents want to be involved in their child’s education and want their children to succeed. Giving parents their voice provides fresh insight into school improvements, and PTA meetings are a forum to voice any concerns and
provide their perspectives.

We are all part of the school community and there is lots to do!

If being on the Committee is not for you, you can still help out. If you have a special skillset that you think could add to an event, please get in touch. We have bake sales planned for this year, so if you are a good baker, let us know! We are also continuing to expand our garden and are looking for people to help us dig and sow seeds – let us know your availability if you would like to help!

Please feel free to contact us any time with queries, suggestions or information.
