African Cup of Nations
Múinteoir Cian’s fourth class pupils completed a project based on the African Cup of Nations, with each of the children researching one of the 24 participating countries. The project involved creating a detailed fact file for their chosen country, including information on population, capital city, currency, religions, languages and the national flag. In addition, pupils wrote individual paragraphs on famous people, natural landscape and climate, food and traditions, habitats, and other interesting facts. Through this project, pupils developed their research, reading, writing and presentation skills while also gaining a greater understanding of African geography, cultures and ways of life. Linking the project to a major sporting event helped to increase engagement and enthusiasm, while encouraging respect for diversity and global awareness.
