Native Trees and Bug Hotel

This week, pupils from Junior Infants to Fifth Class lent a hand with planting some new trees on the school grounds. All the trees planted are native Irish trees. Many thanks to all who helped out with the project! You can see the new trees next to the roundabout in Scoil Bhríde. Click on the link below to see some pictures of the trees being planted:

Beside the trees you may have noticed some brightly-painted pallets on the ground. These will be used to build Scoil Bhríde’s very own bug hotel! If you have any small pieces of wood that may be useful for the bug hotel please send them in to the school. The pieces of wood should have small holes drilled in them because this provides a space for the insects to nest in. This picture will give you an idea of what we’re looking for:

This week, some of our pupils helped with painting the pallets to make them colourful and to help protect them from the weather. You can see some pictures here:
